GSRP Partners

Become a GSRP Site

The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is Michigan's state-funded PreK program for four-year-old children.

Thank you for your interest in partnering with us. Partnership opportunities for the 2026 to 2027 school year are currently full. Information about partnership opportunities for the 2027 to 2028 school year will be available in Spring 2027.

Oakland Schools is expanding GSRP to increase access to high quality prekindergarten for eligible four year olds across Oakland County. This effort supports Michigan’s PreK for All initiative and helps children enter kindergarten confident and ready to learn.

Through partnerships with community based organizations, child care centers, and public school academies, Oakland Schools is strengthening early learning opportunities within local communities and helping families connect with programs that best meet their needs.

PreK for All

Oakland Schools will open the application for new GSRP Partners in Spring 2027.

Benefits for Families

+

• Gives families the flexibility to choose a program that best fits their needs, including location, schedule, transportation options, and the ages of children served.

• Supports continuity of care by allowing children to remain in a familiar learning environment for both education and child care services.

• Makes daily routines easier for families by offering one drop-off and pick-up location for multiple children enrolled at the same site.

• Provides access to high-quality preschool at no cost for eligible families, helping reduce the financial burden of early childhood education.

What is GSRP?

+

GSRP is Michigan’s state-funded preschool program for children who are four years old on or before December 1. The program provides high-quality early learning experiences that support children’s growth, development, and readiness for kindergarten.

Many families qualify for free preschool through GSRP, and some programs may also have openings available for families at other income levels. Beginning May 1, families may enroll regardless of income if space is available.

All GSRP classrooms use a state-approved curriculum and child assessment tools to support learning, growth, and individualized instruction.

Each classroom is staffed by a lead and associate teacher who meet state requirements. Oakland Schools also partners with programs to support staff in obtaining credentials and continuing their professional growth.

Families are valued partners in their child’s learning experience. Programs offer opportunities for family engagement throughout the year, including home visits, family conferences, and group activities designed to support connection and collaboration.

Programs may offer different scheduling options based on community needs, including part-time, school-day, and extended-day programming.

Some sites may also offer before- and after-school care or Friday programming for an additional fee.
