The Huron Valley Schools’ GSRP provides an enriched environment for preschool children that benefits their social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Children construct their own knowledge as they participate in a broad range of activities.
The role of the teaching team is to support each individual child’s growth and development. This is accomplished by planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities which meet individual and group needs through quality experiences. Experiences include literacy, math, science, creative expression, hands-on and large & small muscle activities. We have child-initiated and staff-initiated learning, quiet and active times, and indoor and outdoor play.
The role of the parent is to reinforce learning activities by taking an interest in and talking with one’s child about the preschool day and activities. Family involvement may include reading books together, displaying artwork created by the child, singing songs, telling stories, and practicing finger plays learned in the classroom. The role of the child is to explore, create, practice, question, and grow.
