At Wee Friends Child Care Center, we believe that early childhood is not a race or contest but a journey. Your child will be cared for by a loving staff that is truly committed to total development, i.e., IQ & EQ. We seek to create an atmosphere of acceptance in which the uniqueness of each child is respected, and goals are set for a successful learning environment. We believe a young child’s strongest ties are to their family and caregivers. The most important aspects of learning take place within a supportive and cooperative relationship between parent, child, teacher, and caregiver. Our dedicated and loving staff strives to build and nurture the individual relationship of each child while maintaining a supportive and optimistic extension of the home and family.
Our GSRP classroom utilizes that Project Approach Curriculum. The Project Approach refers to a set of teaching strategies that enable teachers to guide students through in-depth studies of real-world topics. Projects have a complex but flexible framework within which teaching and learning are seen as interactive processes. When teachers implement the approach successfully, students feel highly motivated and actively involved in their own learning, leading them to produce high-quality work and to grow as individuals and collaborators. A study may be carried out with an entire class or with small groups of students. Projects typically do not constitute the whole educational program; teachers use them alongside systematic instruction and as a means of achieving curricular goals.
